An array of talented performers, many of them new to the MATES stage, come together as a cast of zany characters who will welcome audiences to the Mary McMahon musical-comedy “Mystery on the Orient Express”.
From the moment the audience is seated they become passengers onboard this famous train as it rattles its way through France, Italy, Switzerland and Austria, and welcomes some more outrageously fun characters along the way.
Roar with delight as the bumbling Holmes and a very different Watson, Inspector Gadget, Miss Maples and your entertainment director Miss Cast, to name but four, all attempt to solve the mystery of who stole the pearls of a Russian countess.
Prepare to get involved as the Von Crapp Family Singers hop aboard the train, as well as a group of senior citizens on an end of season bowls trip and some over amorous French gendarmes who will try to keep the peace.
Whether seated in first class, second class, no class or the baggage compartments MATES’ offer another special evening of entertainment in the social, theatre-restaurant setting of the Birkdale School of Arts Hall where a licensed bar is available and a light supper is served at interval.
MATES Theatre Society proudly sit in the frame as the most popular community theatre group in Redlands City, averaging audiences in excess of ninety by offering high quality productions presented in a relaxed informal format; for almost twenty years an evening with MATES has been recognised as the perfect way to spend an evening with mates.
