AddressThe Nexus Theatre, Murdoch University.
The Murdoch College Drama Company presents a fun evening of original comedy, melodrama and pantomime.
It is one year after the events of the traditional folktale, The Pied-Piper of Hamelin. All the town’s children but one are still imprisoned by the Piper in his mountain lair and the whole town is in a deep crisis. Finally the council have come up with a rescue plan: they’ve hired a freelance hero to come slay the villain for them. The one person who actually has a chance to rescue the children is totally immobilized by depression – Helmut, the child mysteriously left behind by the Piper a year before. A visiting family and their young daughter, Ottilie, unlocks Helmut and together they reveal the town’s great secret.
Featuring jokes for both the adults and the children, witchcraft, murder, secret identities, puppets, rats, poisoned apples, interpretive dance, a prison breakout and a celebration of the everlasting power of love.
