Little Grimley Trilogy
Directed by Sherrill Wallis
The Little Grimley sagas have become a modern-day Theatrical phenomenon. Rarely have one-act plays been gobbled up with such relish by amateur societies all over the world.
It started with Last Tango in which our four heroes battle to save their ailing Am-Dram with a home-grown sex comedy. It turned into an evening the locals would only forget after years of expensive counselling.
Then came Last Panto in which the prolific Gordon unveiled the world’s greatest pantomime (Oh, no it wastn’t.)
And now, the querulous quartet finally try to tackle a Musical – Traditionally their achilles heel. Well one of their many achilles heels, to be fair. This is a society with more weak heels than a lame centipede. The odds are stacked against them- not just stacked,
but piled to the rafters, higher than a giant’s supermarket shelf in a clearance sale.
The locals who saw their last production are still in therapy and suing for psychological damage. What's more a rival society- and a very good one too- has set up on their doorstep, and selling tickets like Hot Cakes. And they’re performing the same musical.
It all looks a little grim for Little Grimley, but it’s never over….Until the Fat Lady Sings.
