“Family life seen as a jigsaw puzzle . . .
often incomplete . . . great when all the pieces fit . . .
infuriating when they don’t . . . bamboozling when a bit
goes missing or, worse, a stray gets into the box.”

The final production of 2007 for Subiaco based Irish Theatre Players is Jigsaws written by journalist and playwright Jennifer Rogers and directed by Margriet Van Tuyll.

Set in a Perth suburb in 1988, the play takes us through a year in the lives of three generations of women. They gather at grandmothers house to chat, laugh, fight, cry, confess their innermost secrets and reveal their hopes and dreams. Their complicated but profound love for each other holds them together as they confront their own lives.

Perth born Jennifer Rogers wrote Jigsaws in 1988 in a bid to offer interesting parts for female actors in Western Australia.

Since 1981, the Irish Theatre Players have endeavoured to present to their audiences a collection of Irish plays from the works of Synge, Lady Gregory, O’Casey, Friel and Hugh Leonard to the contemporary works of JB Keane, Brendan Behan, Dermot Bolger and Bernard Farrell to locally written and new works.

With such a prolific body of work emerging from writers, the task of appeasing our audiences is often a difficult one. Fortunately, it’s a challenge we look forward to and we strive to bring our audiences the best drama available today.

*This show contains adult themes and language.
