Beware nice old ladies offering elderberry wine!
"Arsenic and Old Lace" is a highly entertaining macabre comedy about two seemingly harmless old ladies whose acts of kindness disguise a dreadful secret. Genial, easygoing drama critic, Mortimer, discovers the shocking truth about his two elderly aunts during a visit to their home. Mix in another occupant of the house who thinks he's Theodore Roosevelt, half of the Brooklyn police department and an evil brother with his mad doctor, and "Arsenic and Old Lace" becomes a comedic tour de force.
One of the all-time great black comedies, it was turned into a famous film featuring Cary Grant in 1944.
