Following almost sold out runs in its first two showcases; En-Chant opens Over the Moon at the Playhouse Theatre on 10 November presenting a magical tapestry of more than 20 of the worldÂ’s great artists.

En-chant Productions has again created a cosmopolitan, yet universally appealing performance.

The Playhouse creates an intimate environment for this magical theatrical experience that juxtaposes moving dramatic moments with great comedic performances. A stunning musical score helps set the mystical tone.

With a cast of more than 30, Over the Moon will provide a visual extravaganza of costumes and on stage action for audiences.

Some of PerthÂ’s brightest amateur singing talent will be performing a vast array of musical theatre, opera, operetta and musical comedy with wonderful eclectic sampling of both loved and rare genres.

From Kismet to The Man of La Mancha, Rossini to Sondheim, Over the Moon is a chance to see some quietly emerging Perth talent bring to stage some of the worldÂ’s great music.

Rogers and HammersteinÂ’s unforgettable State Fair contrasts Bricusse and Wildhorn's haunting Jekyll and Hyde in a score that is ever changing in style and intensity.

Wilder and BricusseÂ’s controversial musical Jekyll and Hyde was created 2000 from StevensonÂ’s epic battle of good and evil. Show classics Take Me As I Am and This Is The Moment both feature in the Over the Moon.

There is a section from The Man of La Mancha, a 1965 Broadway musical which tells the story of the classic novel Don Quixote as a play within a play, performed by Miguel Cervantes and his fellow prisoners as he awaits a hearing with the Spanish Inquisition.

Songs from Kismet will be new to many in Perth despite an amazing 583 performances at the Zeigfeld Theatre in New York when it first came to stage followed up with 648 performances in the West EndÂ’s Stoll theatre. The show follows a poor poet-gone-beggar, Hajj, who sells rhymes on street corners, and his daughter Marsinah through an eastern tale of magical curses and evil potentates.

Over the Moon also draws from great shows including The Mikado, Madame Butterfly and Cats as well as individual numbers from artists as diverse as Rossini (The Prayer) and Simon and Garfunkel (Scarborough Fair).

The bright amateur cast comes from all walks of life varying from WAPPA students to teachers, ambulance officers, personal trainers and tax administrators right through to a descendant of the Austrian royal family. There are more than fifty years in age difference between the oldest and the youngest cast members.

Tickets are available through BOCS 9484 1133 and there are 8.00pm performances on 10,11 and 12 November with a 2.15pm matinee on 12 November.
