Complete Works Theatre Company Presents A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS By Robert Bolt Robert Bolt’s compelling masterpiece is set against the backdrop of social, political and religious upheaval during the reign of King Henry VIII of England. The play follows the life and death of Sir Thomas More in a wonderfully crafted examination of personal conscience verses political expediency. Thomas More, Lord Chancellor of England, enters into political and moral conflict with King Henry VIII when he refuses to support the divorce of King Henry’ wife, Catherine of Aragon. More’s decision to endorse the divine right of the Pope over and above that of his King, leads to his unwilling martyrdom and tragic downfall. The cream of the most talented young actor’s and designers join some of Victoria’s most experienced and best loved actors for this timely production of Robert Bolt’s classic play.
