Macquarie Musical Society's first large-scale production of 2007- the sexy and satirical Eurobeat - Almost Eurovision!
A hilarious new Australian musical by Craig Christie and Andrew Patterson, Eurobeat is equal parts parody and tribute to the competition that introduced the world to such groundbreaking talents as Abba, Celine Dion, and … Abba. MacMS is the first Sydney amateur society to stage the show. Hosted live from sunny Sarajevo by Boyka and Sergei, Eurobeat is the world’s first interactive musical; each night the audience gets to vote for the country of their favourite act, or, true to the spirit of the real Eurovision, the act of their favourite country.
“The show couldn’t be more fun for the audience or cast,” says director Jordana Owens. “With contributions from acts as diverse as Russian boy-band the K.G.Boyz, and Lichtenstein’s techno-contemporary performance art, there won’t be a dull moment. Add in the element of audience voting, and no two nights will be the same.”
Eurobeat will be performed in Macquarie University’s Lighthouse Theatre on April 27th – 28th and 1st-5th May. For ticket bookings contact 0422 271 101. See www.macms.org for more details.
