Crusin Calypso

The Mount Isa Theatrical Society is putting on its first play for 2007 called Cruisin' Calypso. Come and follow the hilarious antics aboard the Caribbean Cruise ship "SS Indulgence". You'll meet all manner of colourful characters, including the Mount Isa ladies' bowling team, an Elvis impersonator, the annoying tourists from hell, the captain and his not-so-manly mates, a very dry mermaid, a verrrry laeed back Jamaican tour guide, an even less-manly aerobics instructor, and some very um deprived pirates. Then join in the chaos that ensues as they disembark onto a very primitive jungle island... MITS plays are always a great night out and heaps of fun - especially this one as it is an "interactive melodrama" i.e. audience participation. Everyone is encouraged to come along in their best tropical/Caribbean/cruise clothes. If you've just moved to Mount Isa, come on down and witness one of the many cultural delights that this town has to offer. The important info: Tickets are $30 from Nature's Health Barn (Kmart Plaza), which includes dinner and dessert. Performances are Friday and Saturday nights - 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th, 23rd, 24th of March. The licensed bar opens at 7:00pm, followed by dinner at 7:30pm, and dessert at half-time.
