- Stephen Lee
Class Act Theatre (Summer of the Seventeenth Doll, Lysistrata) team up with Bare Naked Theatre Company (As You Like It, Romeo & Juliet) to bring you a two hour version of this brooding and powerful masterpiece - rarely performed in WA.
Othello tells the story of a black man in a white society, a story as meaningful and pertinent today as when it was written four centuries ago.
Stephen Lee, who did a brilliant job of Class Act's 2004 production of Othello at the Subiaco Theatre Centre, directs again.
Cast
Ian Bolgia as Othello
David Meadows as Iago
Kim Walsh as Desdemona
Dan Luxton as Cassio
Angelique Malcolm as Emilia
Stephen Lee as Brabantio/Lodovico
James Davies as Roderigo
Here are some comments about that production:
Di Day:
“”‘Othello’, produced by Class Act Theatre, was a brilliant production.”
“Stephen Lee’s direction was masterful, making the most of the limitations of the venue.”
Jason Seperic (Theatre Australia Website):
“All in all, a wonderful production... I truly look forward to seeing more of Stephen Lee's work in the future.”
Alicia Smith (Theatre Australia Website):
“It is wonderful to see such a talented cast, technically superior crew
come together in such a way.”
Newman College:
“Othello was outstanding. The production brought to life the domestic aspects of the play very well. Watching Iago and Emilia was a treat. The direction was outstanding.”
Thornlie SHS:
“An excellent production! You captivated the audience and really brought the play to life, making it accessible to our students!”
