Take a drive down the dark and winding side streets of human behaviour in Neil Labute’s riveting new play, Autobahn. In this exciting Australian premiere, award winning theatre company the Act-O-Matic 3000 present a provocative cycle of short plays focused on the chilling and hilarious absurdities of everyday life, all set in that most familiar of locations – the front seat of a car.
From behind the wheel of an automobile, Labute (The Shape of Things, bash, This Is How It Goes) shows us a break-up gone horribly wrong, the long ride home from rehab, a thinly disguised abduction, the consequences of waking up naked in a hotel room and more, each with his trademark acerbic wit.
The Act-O-Matic 3000 are pleased to present another piece of Labute's important work after its successful production of bash in 2004 (Its quality is outstanding - The Age)
"Sitting in an automobile was where I first remember understanding how drama works...Hidden in the back seat of a sedan, I quickly realised how deep the chasm or intense the claustrophobia could be inside your average family car."
--Neil LaBute
