President Wilson in Paris, won an Awgie award for the best Australian stage play first produced in 1973, and was penned by Australian playwright Ron Blair. A comedy thriller which revolves around President Woodrow Wilson and his second wife Edith in Paris in 1919 for the Peace Conference at which the eminent statesman introduces his idea for the League of Nations. But are they who they seem to be?
Into their midst comes an intruder, Colonel House, who has the tables turned on him and becomes a captive. Why are they keeping him? What will become of him?
Starring Henri Szeps (Mother And Son, Palace Of Dreams) as President Wilson, Deborah Kennedy (The Sum Of Us, Police Rescue, McLeod's Daughters and most commonly know from the 'Not Happy Jan' Yellow Pages adverts) as Edith Wilson and Henry Nixon (All Saints, Home & Away, Albert's Chook Tractor) as Colonel House. President Wilson In Paris jumps between Paris and Sydney and between past and present. It is full of twists and turns, keeping the audience entertained, amused and on the edge of their seats as they are never allowed to feel they know where the story is headed.
"President Wilson In Paris is the most skilful piece yet to come from the pen of Ron BlairÂ…
it is an entertainment first and last, an elegant and highly original piece of verbal gran Guignol..."
