ADVANCED SCREENING
Young Love: Passion and Defiance

Advanced Screening is a romantic drama written specifically for teenagers and their families about the issues and problems that come up when young and inexperienced people are in serious relationships. The narrative is a fast paced episode based story revolving around a group of friends in year 12 on the verge of finishing school as they deal with the minefield of the future and their relationships after school. The production explores these issues by presenting the characters as they move through a range of awkward and confronting situations that will not only entertain, but also make students reflect on their own experiences and choices and discuss with their friends and family.

Markwell Presents specialise in cinematic theatre™?, a hybrid fusion of live stage performance and the magic of the big screen. We have established a form of integrating stylised and occasionally surreal screen sequences with the dramatic action on stage. For Advanced Screening the screen sequences will feature movie preview parodies and stylised animation inspired by music videos.

With great pleasure we announce the cast for Advanced Screening. On July 26 and 28, we witnessed 100 high quality auditions from over 30 schools in the Brisbane Metropolitan area. From these workshops we selected a cast of 8 talented young people:

Will Pitt-Thacker St PaulÂ’s Anglican Felicia Cox Brisbane GirlÂ’s Grammar
Melissa Howard Corinda SHS Kelly Newbery St James College
Tegan Champion Albany Creek SHS Max MacLean Wynnum SHS
James Exelby Redlands College Michael Trotter St James College

Advanced Screening is the final opportunity for audiences to see cinematic theatre for 2005. This production is an updated presentation of the highly successful 2004 season at the Powerhouse, with an exciting new cinematic concept. The production features songs by Stereophonics, Cold Play, Black Eyed Peas, Audio Bullies, End of Fashion, and Body Rockers.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students, and are available from the Judith Wright Centre box office on 3872 9000 or online at www.jwcoca.gov.au for individual or school bookings. The season runs from October 5th to 8th at 7:30pm, the school matinees are on Thursday and Friday at 12:30pm.
