LET'S DO LUNCH AND A SHOW FOR $6
Handzon Theatre Company is proud to presents its 10th season of
Lunchtime Theatre at the Perth Town Hall
Join us in the city and chase the winter blues away for only $6 with a lunch of Campbell’s Velish soup and New Norcia Bread with the unashamedly Aussie half-hour musical romp FAIR DINKUM.
Handzon Theatre in 2006 will celebrate TEN YEARS of Lunchtime Theatre in the heart of the city with a half hour Australian country musical called FAIR DINKUM. Handzon Theatre has worked closely with 2002 Western Australia’s Premier’s Book Award Script winner Hellie Turner in writing this piece specifically for the Lunchtime audience and to commemorate the tenth year of Lunchtime Theatre. Hellie Turner has written several musical plays including "Road Train", "The Gun" and "Bone Dry." Hellie recently won the Judges Choice in the Brainbox Project Maj Monologues.
FAIR DINKUM is a comical half-hour romp through much that Aussies hold dear. Using an A-Z of Australiana, FAIR DINKUM is linked by six original ‘country flavoured’ songs - Lucky Country, Fair Dinkum, Mullet Head, An Aussie’s Backyard and Anthem and a few poems, both original and traditional, which pay gentle homage to some of the unique elements of our colonial heritage and national identity. FAIR DINKUM serves as a small reminder of the fact that we are truly lucky to be Australians. Warts and all!
The dialogue, shamelessly littered with Aussie lingo, is delivered by five endearing characters played by the talented actors of kompany M - Wayno, Davo, Micko, Sheila and Tilly. A little bit tongue-in-cheek and a lot cheeky, FAIR DINKUM is a show that serves up a smorgasbord of Aussie icons to go with the lunch-time soup and bread.
FAIR DINKUM performs twice daily Mon, Wed,Thurs & Fri with doors opening at 12noon & 1pm.
