Mask, Mime and Movement
With Marie Dumont.
Over a two-week period we will train in certain aspects of the late Le Coq's pedagogy. Performers will work with Neutral Mask which is a highly effective tool in developing an active stage presence. The dynamic of natural and human-made environments (i.e., the elements, matter) will be explored and learning how to apply the physicalisation of those elements to developing character. The nature of gesture and its extreme possibilities, which appear as farce, will be developed through the process of mime. These complimentary processes will be explored through a combination of directed exercise, improvisation and group work.

Marie Dumont. studied at Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris for five years gaining qualifications to teach and train. Marie also completing studies at the Laboratoire D'Etudes Du Mouvement (Paris), Le TheatrevDu Soleil (Paris) with Ariane Mnouchkine and the Conservatoire National De Bordeaux. Bouffon
With Jason Lehane
This workshop assists performers find their own individual bouffon character and also to work with the group as a mass with one aim. The actor is encouraged to find and amplify their own physical deformities and habits and exaggerate them until they become grotesque caricatures of themselves. This training helps performers liberate themselves, as individuals and performers, from the restrictions of self-image, personal taboos and ego. The training also helps the performers find the joy of the game and the complicity of the group. This workshop will not only explore Bouffon style but also reveal how Bouffon skills can be used to develop the actors abilities in a broader sense.

Jason Lehane has worked in theatre and film for the last twenty years. He has trained extensively in Bouffon, Butoh, Puppetry, Wrestling and script development and worked as an actor, director, writer and producer.
