Edgar Allan Poe A DEMON In My VIEW
A Trilogy of Gothic Tales adapted for the stage by Ron Kelly
Directed by Sandra Harman
“Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night”
A Demon in My View has been designed as an evening of Edgar Allan Poe, comprising a trilogy of stage adaptations by local author, actor and director, Ron Kelly, of Poe’s short stories: “The Oval Portrait”, “The Tell-Tale Heart” and “Ligeia”, and contains two of Poe’s Poems: “Alone” and “The Conqueror Worm”.
“No one understood better than Poe that, in Fiction and in Poetry both, it is not what you say that counts, but what you make the reader feel. No one understood better than Poe that the deepest psychological truth may be rendered through phantasmagoria” – Edmund Wilson
