England, late 1950s.
Henry Crabb is a rich industrialist desperate for a seat in the House of Lords. Unfortunately, being an orphan, his birth certificate and family tree are proving to be an impediment.
Meanwhile, Crabb's daughter Jill wants to introduce her left-wing fiance Bob to her father, but doesn't think they will see eye to eye - especially after Bob sits on Henry's new Cezanne.
Enter Crispin, the well-bred genealogist (and perfect stand in for Bob).
Bad goes to worse when a mysterious bishop arrives with some interesting news.
This mad-cap comedy features a fabulous ensemble cast which will have you rolling in the aisle and prove that blood is certainly thicker than water (with a nip of gin, thanks).
