Fiesta!
Set in a Mexico of the imagination, Camino Real brings together the great whores Camille and Casanova, the scandalous romantic poet Lord Byron, Don Quixote and other strange travellers at the exotic Siete Mares Hotel on the desolate road to nowhere - the Camino Real.
Into this nether world of prostitutes, police, junkies, crooks and cheats bursts the all-American kid - the boxing ring hero - the loast soul Kilroy, "with a heart as big as the head of a baby", who must fight the match of his life, for the sake of all humanity, to prove the indomitability of the romantic spirit.
First produced on Broadway in 1953, during the infamous McCarthy anti-communist trials, the play's director Elia Kazan came to consider Camino Real to be Tennessee Williams' misunderstood masterpiece.
Matinee performance Sat 2 september at 2pm
Sun 3 September at 6pm
