Jennifer Lewis is a philosophically and politically correct academic. She dreams of joining the Australian Peace Keeping forces to fulfil her humanitarian ideals and assist the ‘world community’.
When Jennifer is drawn from her safe and principled university life to East Timor, she uncovers a vastly different reality. In her bid to restore humanity to those around her, she not only has to battle against a male dominated institution, she must also confront her own deepest fears.
Covert reveals a moment of human horror, piece by piece, in accordance with strict military procedure. And in its revelation, the Australian Military presence in East Timor and Australia's standing internationally, is threatened.
Covert is a tense drama by talented West Australian playwright, Robert Jeffreys. In 2002, PTC produced the acclaimed premiere of JeffreysÂ’ Cox Four and we are excited to present the world premiere of his latest offering.
