AddressThe Beckett Theatre, The Malthouse, 113 Sturt Street, Southbank, Victoria.
Hello there.
Well, since my last one man, Melbourne based live show (Michael Jeffery - DOSH!", Melbourne Town Hall, 2000 Comedy Festival), all sorts of things have happened. I've shared theatrical management with Barry Humphries, portrayed over eager journalist Anthony Timms on Blue Heelers, and had a play; Putting Back The Fest., described as "ideal" & "hilarious" by an English theatre magazine.
Of course, DOSH! was the show that had me described thus -
"Excellent...the enigmatic industry must see." Fiona Scott-Norman, The Age.
I suspect this description came as news to the industry.
Any who, I'm soldiering on with my new show -
"Michael Jeffery - Modern With It Hip Kind Of Dude!" - an eclectic combo. of showbiz stories and songs.
The STORIES detail my run ins with various entertainment types - the cast of Blue Heelers, Nick Giannopoulos, the cast of Pizza, Geraldine Turner, Humphrey Bear and so on.
The SONGS include numbers by Finn, numbers by Paley, songs by all sorts of people you've never heard of. And some you have: Coward, Sondheim... One has to have Sondheim in a show such as this. If you don't, the Cabaret Police burst in and charge you with perverting the course of justice.
So, ably assisted by Musical Director Adrian Portell (chief piano player/tutor - "Joining The Chorus", Rod Laver Arena), "Michael Jeffery - Modern With It Hip Kind Of Dude!" is basically me, on stage, singing songs and telling stories.
Oh yeah; we're reinventing the wheel.
To avoid disappointment, book early, and lower your expectations.
