Encore Theatre proudly presents the World Premiere of “Moving On”, a play by Cenarth Fox, directed by Alan Burrows, and starring Christine Andrew.
Maggie enters her mother's house. It's clean up day. Mother has recently died and there are fifty plus years of memories, old tea-towels and junk to sort and dispose. Maggie finds things which delight and inspire and things which cause pain. Terrible pain.
Maggie entered song and dance competitions as a child and decades after the comps it's impossible to keep an old song 'n dance gal from doing her stuff. The photo albums bring back a flood of memories. My, how times have changed. How people have changed. Hats, names, television and tea pots. Afternoon tea. Was that really once a ceremony? And were crystal cabinets ever a shrine to suburbia and family lifestyles? And then there are relatives. Oh course siblings never fight. And family secrets. Lots of surprises unfold. Maggie is moved.
“Moving On” has it’s share of surprises and sadness. Maggie goes through tough times but chooses to move on. The story and songs may well have you laughing out loud or perhaps shedding a tear or two. It’s a moving musical.
Evening shows at 8.15, Sunday matinee at 2.15
