This is the Australian Premiere of Craig Baxters play, MONOGAMY.

Paul is drunk. He hasnÂ’t seen Emma for the best part of a year. But heÂ’s still
got the key to her flat. The flat they used to share. Late one evening he lets
himself in and wakes her up to give her a flower. Will he persuade her to take
him back?

This is your classic ‘Boy meets Girl. Boy loses Girl. Boy tries to get Girl
backÂ’ romance. But with a difference: the story unfolds backwards. Paul and
Emma revisit the key events in their intense and passionate relationship in
reverse order. The audienceÂ’s allegiances shift as information is revealed and
the two main charactersÂ’ strengths and weaknesses come into focus. Starting
with the acrimonious break-up and ending with the intoxicating first kiss,
Monogamy, by its innovative structure, sheds new light on situations that
anyone who has ever lived with anyone will recognise.

The playÂ’s structure reflects its theme: Monogamy is about the way we look back
on relationships. Remember, only 2% of mammals are monogamous.
