Funny and bloody - BACCHAE is an original stage adaptation of Euripides'classic tragedy about the clash between east and west and the price paid for freedom.
Dionysus (the sexy, smart-talking god of wine and pleasure) arrives in the city of Thebes with a horde of ecstatic fans. They dance and sing
to electric guitar, beat drums and chant: "Dionysus! Ho! Dionysus!"
The King of Thebes rejects these proselytisers, so Dionysus sends the city's women mad into the mountains where they dance, drink and kill wild animals with their bare hands.
