“From snake bite to rotten eggs and dead roos in the well, the Rudds meet the challenges of life on the land in good old Aussie style”

LRF Productions Inc and Black Swan Theatre Company are pleased to announce in this the Year of the Outback, and as part of the WA Fringe Festival, the classic Australian musical comedy ON OUR SELECTION, which features Dad and Dave outdoors at historic Tranby House farm, off Peninsula Rd, Maylands.

ON OUR SELECTION stars musical theatre legends Jill Perryman and Kevan Johnston as Mother and Dad Rudd, with Sam Longley as the long-suffering Dave. ON OUR SELECTION is a boisterous musical comedy full of Aussie humour and a ‘fair dinkum yarn’.

ON OUR SELECTION features a cast of Perth's favourite actors: Murray Dowsett, Leon Ewing, Jules Hutchison, Caroline McKenzie, Steve Turner, Jay Walsh, and Craig Williams, and introduces two of this year's WAAPA (Music Theatre) graduates Natalie Alexopoulos and David Somerville.

In ON OUR SELECTION we meet the Rudd family down on their luck on their bush selection. Their youngest daughter Kate is getting ready to travel to the city to improve her familyÂ’s prospects. Through the course of the play the RuddÂ’s situation improves but there is the mysterious death of a neighbourÂ’s son to solve, DaveÂ’s wedding to deal with and the excitement of DadÂ’s introduction to Parliament. The play is a humorous account of the plight of living on the land and features several good old Aussie songs.

Around the turn of the century Steele Rudd created stories based on his own family, which have been adapted by actor/director George Whaley. ON OUR SELECTION has become part of Australian folklore, projecting a comic image of life on the land and establishing forever the ‘Little Aussie Battler’.

ON OUR SELECTION is the second collaboration between LRF Productions Inc and Black Swan Theatre Company. The first being "Grassroots!", which was performed at the Subiaco Theatre Centre in the year 2000.

Bring your picnic basket and enjoy the music, fun and comedy of ON OUR SELECTION, for the perfect family outing on the banks of the Swan River
