Short Works Project

the past must be abandoned, the future must unfold

Kaidan, Japanese for haunted tales, delves into the reasons we share our stories.

In times of political and social unrest, stories about loss, mental illness, suicide and issues left unresolved ring truer and touch us deeper. In these uncertain times filled with looming fears and threats of war, stories of our mortality serve to remind us to live each day as though it might be our last. Because one day, it will be.

The Kaidan Short Works Project is a night of short works and art instillations that draws together some of the brightest new talent from the recent resurgence of Melbourne theatre. Including writers, directors and actors drawn from disparate groups such as Theatre in Decay, Random Cow, Rocketship and Red Stitch, along with some familiar faces from television and mainstream Melbourne theatre.
