Pantomime as we know it today is a form of entertainment all on its own, derived from a number of different sources – commedia dell’arte – ballet – opera – the music hall – folklore and fairytale. This strange mixture has created a splendid topsy-turvy world where men are women, women are men – where the present is embraced with the past – where people are hit but not hurt – where authority is constantly flouted – where fun is poked at everything and above all where magic abounds and dreams invariably come true.
Encore end their year with their first foray into the world of pantomime. In this riotous evening of laughter and song we meet Baron Hard-up and his daughters Frankenstena and Draquella (the ugly sisters), Cinderella herself, Buttons, Prince Charming, Dandini, the Fairy Godmother, and all the other fairy-tale characters to delight young and old alike!
Matinees are on 10 & 17 Nov. at 2.15 pm
