From the arse end of the nether regions of the earth
Welcome to Paradise tells the story of Nick, Maths Graduate, city boy and a-typically English lad and his time in a station in the centre of Australia just next to the middle of nowhere.
Combining storytelling, live music and humorous vignettes on outback life, Welcome to Paradise, provides a humorous look at the outsider in a strange situation while reflecting on what make us Australians.
Mainstreet Theatre Company is delighted to produce Welcome to Paradise for its third season in Australia and its first out of Western Australia. Previous seasons have been at the Subiaco Theatre centre and Kulcha Multicultural Arts centre in Perth, produced by Two Tonne Budgie. These seasons were followed by a critically acclaimed season at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2001.
Written by Wiluna resident Helen Miller and inspired from her time in the communities of Western Desert, Welcome to Paradise, stars Paul David- Goddard and Chris Sansoni with musician Mark Storen composing and performing the soundtrack for the show. Welcome to Paradise will be designed by Bryan Woltjen whoÂ’s credits range from the Opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympics to working with all major theatre companies in Perth.
