Hayman Theatre Company is delighted to announce the 2001 family pantomime -- a brand new production of a grand old favourite, The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood.
The Sleeping Beauty is the story of a princess who pricks her finger on a spinning wheel and falls into an enchanted sleep for 100 years, eventually woken by the kiss of a handsome prince. But that's not all... Writer Tony Nicholls has gone back to the original nineteenth century fairytale by Charles Perrault, and discovered that the fairytale we all know and love is only the beginning!
True to the Hayman Theatre tradition of taking a fresh approach to the classics, our production takes these new and old ingredients and whips up a sparkling concoction.
The result is a funny, surprising and exciting family entertainment in which not only do we meet again some old favourites such as the grumpy Witch Carabosse, the Good Fairies of the Earth, Sea and Sky and Princess Aurora, but we're also introduced for the first time to some new characters such as the witch's long-suffering Broom, the heroic Prince Meridian and his woried doggy friend, Pug. And of course we mustn't forget the Ogre -- never forget the Ogre!
Monday-Friday 9.30am and 12.30pm; Saturdays 2pm and 8pm.
