When all is said and done...
Wednesday 26 August 2009
So here I am... First read through of "Othello" is on Sunday and I make my return to the stage after some time spent in the Director's seat. I do love directing but by the Gods it'll be nice to focus back on just being an actor; no production schedules to be drawn up, no designers to conference with, no having to re-issue the schedule for the fifth time thanks to my actor's hectic schedules, just me, my script, my fellow actors and a whole world of possibility inside my skull!
So in the interests of publicity, my own record and general interest, I have decided to keep a blog as I take this journey on. I hope it will be as interesting for you to read as it is for me to write.
You may be wondering who has been cast exactly as what in our production. That however is not my pleasure to announce and so you'll have to wait a few more days to find out, Sorry! I can say that I have seen a cast list though and I think this show has all the elements to make something truly explosive, though I could just be biased :P. And yet, as a good friend and shaman once said to me "If you don't whole heatedly believe in your craft how can you expect to create any Magick?" and though I think 'twas meant in another sense, I will let it stand. So, I will put aside my fear of the tall poppie cutters and unashamedly be proud of Upstart Theatre Company, my colleagues, my friends and allow "Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense" to be my guiding star.
Shame be to him who thinks evil of it,
Garreth
