Play Reading

Hi all, I'm interested in attending the "play reading" at the Old Mill in South Perth on 7 October 2009...this seems like a silly question but I've never been to a play reading and was wondering if someone could tell me what exactly is involved... I'm keen to immerse myself as much as possible in the acting world and would appreciate if someone could shed some light on this for me.... Thanks.
