Monash Student Theatre presents Top Girls: Fourteen talented Monash University students are joining forces to bring a momentous period in history to life. Top Girls observes the life of Marlene, a career minded women in the 80’s as she fights to create a successful career for herself without compromising her personal life Opening on Marlene’s new promotion, the Top Girls will whisk audiences through significant females in history as Marlene opens her imagination to a remarkable dinner party in celebration of her success. Only after these celebrations do we catch a glimpse into Marlene’s life outside of the office. What compromises has she made to get where she is in her career? Will she ever marry? And just who is Angie? Written by Caryl Churchill, a woman often described as the best female playwright of all-time, Top Girls is a classic, yet confronting piece of theatre that can be translated to any decade in history.
