Hello playlovers, I have written a one act play, "Descendants" and am wondering which theatre companies might consider it for production. It is about Christian Fletcher and Maimiti and the aftermath of the mutiny on the Bounty story. It is about the settlement of Pitcairn Island, the descendants of Christian Fletcher and Maimiti and is the analysis of a love story. Love merges into marriage, parenthood and bereavement on Pitcairn Island. A central theme is the diaspora of the descendants of Christian Fletcher and Maimiti across the Pacific Islands of New Zealand,Norfolk, present day Pitcairn and Australia. Encapsulated is the secondary theme of man's eternal desire to found a Utopia of justice and peace. The play ends on the joyful note that we live on through the lives of our descendants. There are 5 speaking roles in the play : Christian Fletcher, Maimiti a princess of Tahiti, Ned a Pitcairner, Lucy a Pitcairner and Merline Knobbs, the great-great-great granddaughter of Christian Fletcher and Maimiti. In addition, there are non-speaking roles for a boy and a girl who at various times are bridal attendants, the children of Christian Fletcher and Maimiti and descendants of Christian Fletcher and Maimiti. I should be pleased to receive expressions of interest in my play from any theatre company who believes that it may suit their needs and individual makeup.
