SO! Upstart is back for another year of delightful measures! We have big plans indeed. Without giving away too many of our secrets, I can say that you might see Michael Lamont and Myself entered in this year's dramafest flying our upstart flag high! The biggest news of course is our impending production of "Shakespeare on the Lake: Othello, The Moor of Venice" starting in November which means auditions are fast approaching! For which I can assure you that there has been no precasting, except the role of "Othello" which will be played by Mr. Eddie Stowers. "Everyone else must audition" says Director Joanne Williams, which means another few weeks of me frantically trying to find a monologue and then panicking at the last minute and picking one at random. Every time I say to myself "not this time, this time I will be prepared in advance!" I'll be throwing a party when that actually happens, should be in conjunction with the one for hell freezing over... One of the nice things about being this close to Jo the director is I have had the advantage along with Michael of being a sounding post for her ideas. I can honestly say that if all goes to plan this production will not only rock the proverbial socks but everything else besides! I wish I could share some of these things with you all but I am sworn to secrecy the penalty for breaking this oath I am told is to only ever be cast in one role for the rest of eternity: Yorik. Now i'm not saying that my fellow AD's Jo and Michael are the type of people who would remove my head and boil the flesh from its bones in order to use my skull as a prop... Oh wait... That's exactly what I am saying. Well if I gave away our secrets, being such a willfully perjured individual, I think I would be deserving of such a strong, established and level punishment.
