ECU auditions
Friday 8 December 2006
So last week I spent two days in a row making the trek to Mt Lawley for auditions/interviews
for 2 courses at ECU. The first a double degree Education/Creative Arts. That one was more laid
back, more of a workshop and at the end we all just spoke about why we wanted to do this course.
The next one was a little bit more intimidating. For the Contemporary Performance degree each
person had 2 prepare two contrasting monologues to perform in front of the whole group. What made
it even more nerve racking was the fact we were in a WAAPA building where auditions for WAAPA courses
were being held that day . We started off with some warm up activites and then went into auditions
and interview ... the process did drag on a bit but everyone who auditioned was so talented... it blew
me away the amount of talent that was there and the majority of those auditioning were school leavers.
I was a little worried about how that audition went but the one I want, the teaching degree went really
well. The guy who runs the course was really interesting and gave me a whole new persepctive.
Anyway ... so I want to start doing some productions next year , the local theatre companies have
chosen some really good ones, although everything that is done around here is a musical and I
need to improve my voice and my poor teaching has been so sick this year . So thats enough of my random
ramblings ... I must admit I'm a bit bored with school and leavers over... oh well time to practice
some songs then !! :)
