Actor William McInnes cast in Equus

Southern Hemisphere exclusive

William McInnes, six-time logie nominee and one of Australia’s most popular stage and screen actors, has been cast in the pivotal role as psychiatrist Martin Dysart in the powerful and provocative stage play Equus by Sir Peter Shaffer.

Equus is produced by Perth Theatre Company and His Majesty’s Theatre 12 - 26 September 2009, presented by special arrangement with David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers in association with McNaughton Lord 2000Ltd.

McInnes (Kath and Kim, Stepfather of the Bride, SeaChange, My Brother Jack) will perform alongside rising Australian star Khan Chittenden (Clubland, Dangerous, West, All Saints, Packed to the Rafters), who is currently in Los Angeles promoting the surfing movie Endless Bummer.

McInnes said he is “thrilled to be coming back to appear in Perth onstage in this exciting production of Equus.” He added “it was a real treat to be asked to play the part of Dysart, it's probably one of the most significant in contemporary theatre. His Majesty's is a wonderful venue and I'm really looking forward to working with all the mob at the Perth Theatre Company to bring this great piece of theatre and entertainment to as many people of Perth as possible.”
