"Comedy is funnier if it's real".

My recent first outing as a non-performing director ('The Last Dance of the
Plum Sisters' for Phoenix Theatre, Hamilton Hill WA) met with moderate success.
Our Tim Prosser won the best character actor gong in Bunbury and was a nominee
for best supporting actor in the WA State Drama Festival in Darlington. We were also
nominated for best costumes in the latter. Pity there was no award for special
effects! I loved making those explosions!!
We are now into the last week of rehearsals for 'Cosi' (by Louis Nowra directed by Grant Malcolm) with Grads, Perth WA. I play a mad lawyer who gets dragged into a Mozart opera. Somehow, I feel strangely comfortable in the role. It is a very experienced and talented cast and crew, so I am hoping a bit of that rubs off on me.
The season at the Dolphin Theatre UWA runs from 27/10/06 to 11/11/06. I will of
course be shouting at the bar after the show for anyone who responds to this blog post.
