Dance Experts to reveal Performer Secrets to gaining work Most professionally trained dancers and performers in Australia fail to pick up paid work because they lack the expertise and industry connections, according to Sydney-based professional dancer Clarinda Tivoli and internet marketer Philadelphia Tivoli. In an industry first the sisters, who have connections with world-leading performers and choreographers, are set to reveal their secrets to gaining paid work at an exclusive one-day free workshop to be held on Sunday, November 30, at the McDonald Performing Arts College in North Strathfield. The workshop will run from 9am till 6.30pm. “There is a huge issue for most dancers and performers who train for many years, with their parents spending large amounts on their tuition, but who receive no training on how they can actually work as professionals and earn money from their industry,” Clarinda says. “There is not enough training on how the industry actually works and how to get steady paid work.. “We've been dance and music students to some of the top performing artists in the world, and have also been students of some of the world’s best online marketers. And we saw that there was a way to merge the performing arts with the right marketing methods, to help assist hard working, creative and incredibly talented dancers and performers to enjoy a thriving career.” According to Philadelphia, there is actually a way to fast-track your success as a professional dancer and work with all the big names in the industry. “We can’t say that there is a lot of work out there, because there’s not, but we’re aiming to put dancers and performers in a better position and get them better and quicker exposure online so they are accessible for more opportunities,” Philadelphia says. While many dancers and performing artists may already be ‘online’ using such sites as MySpace, FaceBook and YouTube, they either don’t know how, or are completely unaware that they can purposefully and strategically use these websites with the right marketing techniques to promote themselves, making quicker and stronger industry connections. “We have interviewed the top people in the industry - from talent agents to artist's managers, big-time choreographers to marketing experts. And with this, we have found out insider information of exactly what dancers need to be taught to succeed.” Among others, Clarinda has recently interviewed Bobby Grant, Stage Manager of the Black Eyed Peas, B Thomas, Back-up dancer for Fergie/Madonna and Will Smith, and JP San Pedro, from Funkanometry and Choreographer for Hannah Montanna. She recently auditioned for So You Think You Can Dance Australia, and made it through to the third round of auditions. The upcoming workshop, entitled The Performer Secrets Workshop for Dancers, will cover key aspects such as how to become a professional dancer with regular, paid gigs, how to get noticed internationally by key dance industry people, and effective techniques to getting signed by the top talent agencies. “We’ll be revealing proven strategies for using websites such as MySpace, YouTube, and FaceBook to get you highly-paid jobs,” adds Clarinda. “No one else is teaching this. We are the only people teaching these secrets!. The ticket price for attending the workshop is $147, however there is no cost for attendees if they make a $25 donation to the McDonald Foundation, which is administered by the McDonald Performing Arts College.
