QUEENSLAND AUDITION NOTICE

Qld Arts Council

Thursday 16 October 2008

Queensland Arts Council is inviting expressions of interest for general auditions for the 2009 Ontour inschools program. Queensland Arts Council’s Ontour inschools is one of the largest touring theatre companies in the world. QAC has provided equity of access for the live performing arts in Queensland for 48 years. We average 3,000 performances a year for some 400,000 students in both metropolitan and remote areas of the state. We are auditioning Brisbane-based actors: 6 males and 3 females for 5 shows for the 2009 season. We require responsible and dynamic actors with a sense of adventure and a broad range of acting skills. Such skills might include slapstick and physical theatre, juggling, acrobatics and musical skills. Ontour inschools productions bring laughter, fun and wonder into the classroom and through this enjoyment kids learn; be it about Shakespeare, or Big Science or how to cope with bullying. Actors must have a current driver’s licence and a clear driving record. We give preference to actors over the age of 20. Actors need to have a ‘blue card’, which can be applied for through QAC after a successful audition. GENERAL AUDITION on Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 November 2008 At this audition you will be ask to present a prepared short comic piece and a song if you sing and there will be an opportunity to display any special skills you have. CALL-BACKS in the week starting the 10 November 2008. Please email your photo and curriculum vitae to Jim Vilé, Manager of Ontour inschools on jim.vile@qac.org.au, no later than Tuesday 28 October 2008
