Film and TV Industry in WA officially an Industry? With presently $42 million dollars budgeted for current and future projects, it would appear that the WA film Landscape is set to change dramatically. Well one can hope and by all accounts, it would be well placed.

With current productions including “Blood in the Sand”, a second series of “The Circuit”, “Stormworld” and “Trapped”, along with recent productions “Australia” and “To Hell and Back” just to name a few, it seems WA Filming has never been busier.

Productions slated for upcoming production work seem to suggest that this volume of work can be kept up for the foreseeable future. In other words, WA would now appear to have a sustainable Film Industry. For budding WA talent, it means that you now do not have to travel interstate or overseas to have a chance with fantastic opportunities.

Now is the best time for local talent to get on the books with local talent agencies and then to get their fingers on the pulse of the WA Film Timetable. Opportunities for the younger performers are of particular interest with a focus on children’s television shows.

Even the WA Premier has acknowledged the sudden growth in WA productions visiting the set of “Stormworld”.

"This large-scale production reflects how much our local film and television industry is booming, and showcases the skills of our outstanding filmmakers and unique landscapes," Mr Carpenter said. "WA is a world leader in producing quality children's television, with series such as Lockie Leonard, and now Stormworld, cementing our reputation." (Quoted on the ScreenWest web site)
