Advice on entering the costume design field

I am a commericial fashion designer who is trying to make the change into the costume design field. I am currently living in Europe, but moving back home at the end of the year to study at either NIDA or VCA. My first preference is for NIDA as the course is more costume specific. I would like to hear from any gradutates from both institutes in regard to the application process, what I will need to submit in my folio to be specic for the costume design feild, any experience outside of school i should try to obtain & any other helpful information to help me ensure my application to both courses will be a great sucess.
