Virgin Director - The Slack B@$^@&D
Wednesday 2 August 2006
Crikey time has crept up on me. Two weeks until we go up and I still have so much to organise. In a sense, I have let the team down a little by not being more organised prior to this point. The cast themselves have been fantastic and will be the true strength of the play.
Now as my days are numbered, I am having to gather the props and such that the girls will need to complete their performance, and what does my shopping list include?
- Sound effects - 3 different sound queues
- Two buckets - preferably metal, not new
- Gypsum (don't ask)
- Well used old mugs (5)
- Stack of unlabled tins of food
- Couple of crates (wood, plastic) to be sat on. More would be good
- Costumes (to some degree - bless the girls for helping out here)
- Magazine (non-descript)
- Frying Pan (seriously)
- Certain plot important items (can't give too much away after all)
Fortunately, the kitchen sink is off stage, so we can do without that. Some of the stuff can be easily sourced, others have been a little problematic, and all within budget too which while generous for the average one-act play, may be a little tight for this one. Here, the script was my choice and I got myself into this mess ...
For all this, the process has been very enjoyable and I hope I can speak for all my team when I say that. It has also been quite an eye opening experience for me. I knew the directors lot was intense, and this has proven that in spades, but when all is said and done, it has been great. While it has taken up my evenings away from my family, it has been an experience that I would like to try again. Maybe on a bigger project ... with a smaller cast, less props, better scheduling, bigger budget, ...
