Overture

Lhibou

Monday 13 August 2012

Hurry! Book your opportunity to experience Overture, a compelling and spellbinding compilation of songs and storytelling accompanied with live music. Devised and directed by L’hibou Hornung, Overture is an interactive presentation that explores outsider perspectives and the tension between connectedness and dislocation. Each composition is accompanied by its own music, both mournful and uplifting, acknowledging the separateness of each situation, yet following a melodic thread that speaks of shared existence. The compositions conclude in rousing music celebrating the many strengths of the human spirit. Overture stretches the boundaries of that which is expected of theatrical conventions. The process has been designed to put the pulse back into theatre using monologues written and dramaturgically developed over a short period of time, by writers from a range of backgrounds. Presented as works in progress, the audience will embark on an intimate, unexpected journey through The Arch at Holden Street Theatres. Built upon ‘fast theatre’ principals that reap immediate responses and unforseen discoveries, the element of surprise remains at the fore throughout this occurrence. L’hibou, a socially conscious director who works in Mental Health, generated this performance to remember and celebrate those who have lived, or are living in isolation, entangled within their own predicaments. With significant contributions made by Uniting Care Wesley Port Adelaide clients to the creative process, this is ‘inclusive theatre’ that honours the meaningful exchange of sharing and witnessing stories. Performed by the dynamic cast of Joanna Tsalikis, Kylena Vigus, Margaret Ferris, Teresa De Gennaro, Susan Fraser, Mazz Ryan, Roberto Zenca and Rosemary Jackson and accompanied by first rate- musical talent Irma Frieda, Rosalie Day, Kim Gray, Roger Gillison and Justin Posa, this sensory experience will transfix and continually surprise. For less then the price of a movie ticket, this mesmerising event can only be offered to limited numbers, so get in early and book now, or you will miss out!
