Stimulus Package The Musical kicked up it's heels at the Earl Arts Centre.
This latest offering from the Launceston Players, written and directed by Cayden Richards, pokes fun at classic musicals and recent events.
Examining the effect of Kevin Rudd's stimulus package on a group of unlikely down-and-outs, the production keeps its tongue firmly planted in its cheek and follows send up with send up.
Richards has assembled an enthusiastic and engaging team.
Matthew Hyde shines as the neurotic Zac as he dreams of staging his own musical given his windfall from Uncle Kevin.
He is well supported by Duane Bye, as Gav, Tash McCulloch, as Daisy, and the full ensemble, each of whom milks their role to the utmost.
The choreography by Alix Birtwhistle is well matched to the musical enjoyment that the company shares.
In the tradition of Paul Keating the Musical, Warnie the Musical, and Virginity the Musical, Stimulus Package uses the Zeitgeist of current affairs to poke fun at a world sometimes in crisis.
Stimulus Package the Musical does stimulate and is a great night out if you are looking for a laugh.
