Serge Sharrinovsky

Friday 24 February 2012

On Monday the 27 February 2012, the Serge Sharrinovsky Sundown Film Festival is kicking off its first part of alternative screenings at the Piazza Super Screen in Northbridge (cnr Lake & James) with two great documentaries; 7.30 pm “Inside Israel” Synopsis: This insightful and uplifting documentary sidesteps the usual conversation of politics, conflict and violence, and tells the story of the Israeli people – a resilient and dynamic nation – whose spirit has brought the tiny country of Israel to the forefront of world innovation and progress. The film’s narrator, Dr. Tal Ben Shahar, also weaves his own life into the documentary and takes you on a journey to understand what being an Israeli is all about. 8.20 pm “Living Without Money” Synopsis: Worried about the GFC or EU Debt Crisis then this documentary Living Without Money portraits the life of 68 year old Heidemarie Schwermer, a German woman who made a deliberate choice to stop using money 14 years ago. She cancelled her apartment, gave away all of her belongings and kept nothing but a suitcase full of clothes. This was a decision that changed the entire outlook on her life dramatically. Today, after 14 years, she is still living almost without money and claims she is feeling more free and independent than ever. The film follows Heidemarie in her day to day life and shows the challenges she meets by living an alternative lifestyle.
