SNEAK PEEK AT 2012
2012 looks set to be a big year at Koorliny Arts Centre, with a number of new programs adding to established ones.
Show-wise, head back to the '50s for some rockin' and rollin' with Grease, bring the family to revisit Dr Seuss stories at Seussical, or try London Street Theatre Group's production of 39 Steps. More shows are currently in negotiation.
Jay Weston, Petrina Bishop, Silver Clefs, the That's Jazz trio, and the Italian Women’s Choir are confirmed as part of the 2012 Morning Melodies line-up.
The centre has also been selected to take part in a two-week Awesome Arts program, set to take place in the July school holidays.
Koorliny Bookworms and Boys/Girls club will resume early in Term 1 and a monthly Meet the Author program is in preparation.
Authors including Bevan McGuinness, Sara Foster, Teena Raffa-Mulligan, Rosanne Dingli and Katy Watson-Kell have expressed interest in speaking.
Art and craft groups and dance, music and theatre classes will continue, with Wellard School of Music moving to the centre early in the year.
Planning is under way for a monthly Starving Artists' market, which is aimed at giving artists of all sorts a place to show and sell their work. It is hoped that the markets will begin in February.
