Auditions - Shakespeare's AS YOU LIKE IT

Australian Shakespeare

Thursday 3 November 2011

Not many aspiring young actors have the chance to prove they have what it takes with some meaty stage experience. Our Young Bards Bravehearts 1.0 program provides actors aged 15 to 18 with just that: an incredible opportunity to further hone your acting skills with expert guidance from our team of industry professionals, culminating in performances to the general public within the historic surrounds of the Athenaeum Theatre Two. Not only that, you’ll be performing alongside a seasoned actor from the Australian Shakespeare Company’s acting core. So what does it take? Make the cut and score an audition. Prepare one Shakespeare monologue of your choice and let your audition be your moment to shine. Become one of only 20 people to land a role in Shakespeare’s popular comedy AS YOU LIKE IT. Next the real work begins: two week-long intensives in the January and April school holidays and 2 nights of rehearsals per week for 9 weeks in Term 1 learning fundamental acting techniques and the essentials of movement and voice while discovering just what it takes to mount a professional theatre production. "Bravehearts has been a fantastic experience. It’s really helped me open my eyes and see what the world of acting professionally is truly like. Working on ROMEO AND JULIET has been an absolute dream come true for me and I’ve loved every moment of it."
