Remiss in posting/blogging... why? - Been auditioning
Friday 8 April 2011
It's been a while since my last entry and that's because I have been busy somewhat with auditions and so forth.
I have had a number of auditions recently, after the closure of both Theatre of Blood and Rocky Horror. The good note about Rocky Horror is that it may come back at another venue if we can just get that to happen in the right place. too far out and it will not get any audience and become unviable. Too far in and the prices for a cinema to put it on would also be unviable. Therefore it's a balancing act. Two venues are interested, we shall see what transpires. It is safe to say, though, that with the current management, and their penchant for regarding it as an external hire arrangement (with commercial rates applied) it will not return to The Chauvel Theatre, anytime soon.
I have auditioned for a few things recently and have been lucky enough to have gotten a couple of parts:
The Nickendale Murders (a musical murder mystery) - being produced for Sydney Fringe 2011. At the moment I have been cast as Constable Con in this multi-media production, but hope to be on the Stage Management area as well. Pwerforming for 3 weeks in September.
SIN - Being produced by the AFTRS. I have been cast as the main protagonist, Bill Blacksol, for this 6 episode Web-based Mini-Series. FIlming in June
Small Pleasures - being produced by UTS. I have been cast in a small but character defining introductory role.
Arthur: The Seeing Stone - I have been offered the Role of Oliver The Castle Priest in this NZ-Based Radio Drama, based on the novel by Kevin Crossley-Holland, for which episode one has already been recorded.
IN other news, my Agency closed it's doors last week, so I am on the lookout for a new one, am putting together a new showreel and a new voice-reel, so that is taking some time indeed. Also, along with that, seeing Agencies and attending more auditions. So, life has been busy, but quite rewarding.
