Getting the RIGHT Acting Training

Much has changed since Screenwise opened it’s studio doors a decade ago to plug a gapping hole in the training of Australian actors specifically for Film and TV. Previously, the only places to train in the art of acting was at NIDA or the Ensemble where ‘being an actor' meant training for the theatre via drama classes and stage productions.

What makes a GOOD acting school? Nowadays acting schools are popping up everywhere, touting to be the biggest and the best.

So how do you tell a good acting school from a bad one? A good acting school will train you in the art of acting. It will employ tutors that are professional experts in their field with relevant and recent experience in the art of acting. It will provide opportunities for you to develop, refine and extend both your practical and theoretical acting skills. A good school will also create opportunities to showcase you to industry professionals, stakeholders and potential employers when your skills are refined and ready to be seen.

The right acting school for you will depend on what kind of actor you wish to be. One way of determining a great school is to look at the success of recent graduates.
