"Theatre Biomechanics" International intensive workshop August 22 - 29, 2011 Leitring bei Leibnitz Austria PROGRAMME The workshop is focused on the practical exploration of performer’s psycho-physical instrument in the teaching of the Russian outstanding theatrical innovator - Vsevolod Meyerhold. His passion to creating bold, imaginative and expressive theatre and unique understanding of performer’s nature inspire contemporary theatre makers all over the world. Participants will explore the principles of Theatre Biomechanics and will learn one of the classical Etudes. The roots of Ostrenko Biomechanics go back to Biomechanics of Meyerhold. It is important to realise and consider Theatre Biomechanics not as a static museum piece, but as a very dynamic developing method practiced internationally as an effective technique in contemporary theatre training. The process includes intensive practical training and discussions. During the workshop participants will gain a deeper understanding of the basic principles of Theatre Biomechanics, the psycho-physical approach in contemporary performer’s training and its application to practical work - rehearsal process, performance and teaching.
