Ellandar Productions - The Beginnings

Western Australia is a hard place to make a career in the arts, yet we have a lot of worth. A huge state with endless possibilities and phenomenal talent. Once you dig a little you find a lot!

Ellandar Productions is my contribution to Western Australian fringe theatre with my business partner, Elliott Cook. "Ellandar" the merge of our names was originally a voice for our sketches, stand-up comedy and choreographed physical comedy routines. Now with the registered business name we want to use "Ellandar" as a production company, a vehicle to showcase the versatility of local W.A talent in all forms of theatre and film & tv.

It is my firm belief that W.A apart from the admirable "Blue Room" does not celebrate fringe theatre as much as it should, and with so many talented artists in independent theatre, we have the pool of performers, writers, directors & designers to develop and devise worthy representations of local theatre. Our mission statement is to help develop a recognised identity in the performing arts mediums.

Our first show "A Night Of Deceit" opens on December 15th 2010 and runs until December 18th 2010 at the studio space in Subiaco Arts Centre. It features direction by Fern Nicholson & Iskandar R. Sharazuddin, musical direction by Asha Cluer and choreography by Para Isidro. The show consists of five originally written short one-act plays that examine deceit in both dramatic and comedic settings and sees how different characters interact with each other in often deceitful and misleading ways!

The inspiration for the show was a production called "Tuesday, In One Act" from Renegade Productions performed at "The Blue Room Theatre" in 2009 written by Demelza Rogers. As well as the original perfomance of one of the plays "William Albridge" at the Azure Entertainment showcase "NOIR". Together Elliott and I along with a third playwright George Gayler decided to devise a show that could be classed as "bus-stop theatre" quick, punchy pieces of writing that hold an audience for up to 12 minutes at the most and take them on a journey of twists and turns. The result was "A Night Of Deceit" which also incorporates five jazz standards between the pieces and one original musical number at the end to close the show!

So much work from so many locals has gone into making this show a tight and smart looking show. It deserves an audience, tickets are on sale through www.bocsticketing.com.au or call (08) 9484 - 1133
